HOME OF THE WAVES:

CONVERSATIONS WITH MOONSORROW

Written by Grilo do Demo.

  • An unparalleled and candid insight into one of the most respected and influential pagan metal bands. The epic story of Moonsorrow — told by Moonsorrow. From the founders’ childhood, through the demo period, the gradual line-up additions and the increasing touring activity, right up to the latest album, Jumalten aika.

  • Interviews were conducted shortly after the release of Jumalten aika, and cover everything you can imagine. Band history, lyrical and visual themes, composition process, ideological background, technical details and much more. You will even read what's probably the only interview you'll ever find with Markus!

  • Exclusive and in-depth interviews with all band members – Ville Sorvali, Henri Sorvali, Marko Tarvonen, Mitja Harvilahti, Markus Eurén, Janne Perttilä – as well as mastering engineer Mika Jussila, Swallow the Sun, Jussi Helenius of Levykauppa Äx, and other friends and peers who have remained close to the band through the years.

  • Behind-the-scenes narrations and never-before-seen photographs.

  • Moonsorrow fanatic Grilo do Demo (the person behind the Unofficial Moonsorrow Biography, the Epic Heathen Podcast, the Verisivut Moonsorrow Fanzine and countless other Moonsorrow-related projects) and visual storyteller Leo Aragón joined forces to interview the band for two weeks, every day, with several sessions per day, together with a team who documented it all. Follow them on their journey across Finland, exploring the band's biography, lyrical and visual themes, composition process, ideological background, technical facts and much more.

  • The interviews were originally intended for a documentary that, due to a myriad of problems, hasn't yet been released. However, that documentary will only use 2 hours of material – but the crew filmed interviews for 13 days, several hours per day. In addition to the interviews, you will find out how everything worked behind the scenes. How the team carried out the project, worked together with the Moonsorrow guys, the locations they took them to and their significance, and much more.
